The city of Guerrero Viejo, on the Texas-Mexico border, sank beneath the waters of Falcon Lake in 1954, however, due to drought, the city has reemerged and again has inhabitants. The composer visited this city during the summer of 2005 and the memory of the promising rejuvenation of this once thriving and beautiful city has been forever imprinted upon his mind.
